Brittany Downing enters her second season in 2012-13 as an assistant coach of the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team.

Downing began coaching in 2010 as the JV girls’ basketball coach at Stratford High School in Stratford, Conn. She also coached for the Amateur Athletics Union travel team of the Davis Athletic Club.

She joined the Albertus Magnus coaching staff in the fall of 2011.

Downing played AAU basketball as well, competing as a 13-year old on the Under-16 team in her area. In high school, she played and graduated with honors from Notre Dame High School in Fairfield, Conn. She was also named her team’s Most Valuable Player at Notre Dame.

While playing basketball at the collegiate level at Western Connecticut State University, Downing was named to the Little East Conference All-Defensive Team after the 2005-06 season. She finished that season with 130 rebounds, 39 steals and 73 points, while finishing her two-year career with 183 rebounds, 118 points and 57 steals.

She graduated from WCSU with a BA in psychology and a BS in Justice and Law administration.
