Junior Darius Watson (New Britain, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has been named to the 2013 ECAC New England Second Team for his efforts throughout the 2012-13 season.
Watson averaged 23.3 points per game in 28 games played this season. He led the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in the points per game category as well.
Watson led the Falcons to a 24-5 overall record as Albertus made its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and its third in the last four years. The junior shot 54.4% from the floor and 35% from behind the arc to lead the Falcons. He was also named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team for the second-straight season.
On Dec. 6, 2012, Watson became the 11th all-time Albertus Magnus men's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Later in the season, he scored a career-high 35 points versus Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Jan. 8.
Watson was one of just three GNAC men's basketball players to be recognized. Anna Maria's Anthony Click joined Watson on the Second Team, while Johnson & Wales' freshman Quarry Greenway was tagged as the ECAC New England Rookie of the Year.
