Albertus Shuts Out Emmanuel College 2-0

Boston, MA - The Albertus Magnus College Men's Soccer team downed the Emmanuel Saints, 2-0 in the opener of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Field. The loss for Emmanuel caused the Saints to drop to 1-2 on the season, while the Falcons improved to 2-1-1, 1-0 GNAC.  The Falcons struck early, when sophomore midfielder Kyle Kelly (Stratford, CT) dropped a ball over the head of Emmanuel's rookie keeper Wilhelm Du Bois (Key Biscayne, Fla.) in the 10th minute of play.  Kelly was assisted by freshman defender Chris Long (West Haven, CT). The two teams played scoreless for the remainder of the first period while the rain fell steadily on the turf at Clemente. The Falcons out-shot the Saints, 7-3, in the opening half and Albertus Magnus took a one goal lead into halftime.  The Saints managed to hold the Falcons off for another thirty-three minutes, before AMC found the scoreboard for the second time.  Sophomore forward Jamal Howard (West Haven, CT) scored on a pass from freshman midfielder Taylor Sasloe (Norwalk, CT) at 78:02, giving the Falcons a two goal lead and eventually the 2-0 victory.  Senior keeper Gerald O'Connor (Hamden, CT) made 7 saves to preserve the shut-out for the Falcons.  The Falcons play host to Elms College on Thursday with a 4:00 PM kick-off.
