Standish, ME - St. Joseph's College Men's Soccer team (4-2-1, 2-0 GNAC) defeated Albertus Magnus (3-2-1, 1-1), 3-0, in GNAC Men's Soccer action at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday afternoon. Andre Cushing '10 (Hampden, ME) tallied a goal and an assist in the win for Saint Joseph's. Goalkeeper Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME) made three saves to record the shutout. The Monks began the scoring as Jack LaFreniere '13 (Alton, NH) scored a goal, his first collegiate tally, 14 minutes before intermission. Cushing recorded an assist on the play. St. Joseph's College doubled the lead when Cushing scored his first goal of the season. Corey Grant '13 (Haverhill, MA) set up the senior midfielder with a lead pass towards the net that was finished to make it a 2-0 game. Michael Sanfilippo '12 (Walpole, MA) netted his second goal of the season in the 81st minute to provide the Monks with a 3-0 lead. Senior keeper Gerald O'Connor (Hamden, CT) made nine saves in net and Jamal Howard '12 (West Haven, CT) recorded three shots for Albertus Magnus in the losing effort. Albertus Magnus will play host to Mitchell College on Tuesday at 4:00pm.
