Ramirez Named GNAC Coach of the Year; All-Conference Teams Announced
Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball head coach Omar Ramirez has been named the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year as announced by the league office over the weekend. In just his second season at the helm of the program, Ramirez guided his team to a record-breaking year as the Falcons are currently 19-9 overall and will be making their first ECAC Tournament appearance on Saturday.

Falcons Headed to ECAC Semifinals to take on Endicott
The Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball team will head to Beverly, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 21 to take on the Endicott Gulls in the ECAC Tournament Semifinals. Albertus enters the postseason tournament as the No. 3 seed with an impressive 19-9 overall record. Saturday’s match will begin at 11:00 a.m.

The Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball team fell to top-seeded Rivier College 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-13) in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament semifinals on Thursday night in Nashua.

Falcons Earn First-Ever Postseason Win; Down Wentworth 3-1
The Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball team won three-straight sets en route to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-16, 27-25) victory over Wentworth in the First Round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. The win marks the program’s first postseason victory as it was the Falcons’ first-ever appearance in the GNAC Tournament.

With a 3-2 (13-25, 24-26, 26-24, 27-25, 17-15) victory over Johnson & Wales on Saturday afternoon, the Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball team clinched the fifth seed of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday night.

Celebrate Frankie’s Birthday/Student-Athlete Appreciation Day
Albertus Magnus College will celebrate the birthday of its mascot, Frankie the Falcon, in honor of Student-Athlete Appreciation Day on April 4. Student-Athlete Appreciation Day is honored annually on April 6 but with the day falling on Good Friday, Frankie’s birthday will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4 at noon in the DeDominicis Dining Hall.

Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico) dished out a season-high 47 assists as the Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball team fell to Wentworth 3-2 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday night. The Falcons won the first set 25-22 before losing the second set 26-24. Albertus took the next set 25-20 but the Leopards won the final two sets 25-17 and 15-9 to secure the league victory.

Despite 19 kills from freshman Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.), the Falcons fell in the league match by scores of 25-21, 27-29, 19-25, 19-25.

The Albertus Magnus men’s volleyball team won its sixth-straight match with a 3-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence on Sunday afternoon. Led by 12 kills from Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.), the Falcons cruised to the three-set victory with scores of 25-13, 25-9, and 25-19.
