Freshman Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week to become the first-ever Falcon to earn that honor in Albertus Magnus men's volleyball history. Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) was also recognized as he earned a spot on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts.

Johnson led the Falcons with 13 kills in their 3-0 win at Purchase on Friday, Feb. 17. In the match, he averaged 4.33 kills per set, while he committed just two hitting errors in 19 attempts. Along with hitting .579 on the night, Johnson added three service aces, three digs and three total blocks.

Albertus is 5-0 on the year, its best start in program history, while the Falcons' five wins have already marked a program-best tally in wins in a single season.

The Falcons are coming off victories over Yeshiva and Brooklyn on Sunday, Feb. 19. Statistics from those matches will be counted towards next week's Player of the Week voting process.

Charamut, who registered 17 kills in 28 attempts at Purchase was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season. Charamut, a transfer-student from Eastern Connecticut State University, is in his first season with the Albertus men's volleyball program. He averaged 5.67 kills per set in Friday night's win, while he added one service ace and two blocks.

The Falcons return to action on Sunday, Feb. 26 as they host another tri-match in the CMM Athletic Center. Albertus will host Sarah Lawrence at 11:00 a.m. in the first match of the day before hosting Regis College (Mass.) at 3:00 p.m.
