2011-12 Championships and Major Accolades
The Albertus Magnus Department of Athletics had a very successful 2011-12 year, producing two GNAC Regular-Season Championship teams, one GNAC Tournament Championship team, two All-Americans and 33 All-Conference Team selections.

Celebrate Frankie’s Birthday/Student-Athlete Appreciation Day
Albertus Magnus College will celebrate the birthday of its mascot, Frankie the Falcon, in honor of Student-Athlete Appreciation Day on April 4. Student-Athlete Appreciation Day is honored annually on April 6 but with the day falling on Good Friday, Frankie’s birthday will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 4 at noon in the DeDominicis Dining Hall.

Brown, Carrero Named to GNAC All-Conference Third Team
Senior Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Third Team. The honors mark the first for both Falcons after they led their squad to a 14-12 showing on the year.

Saint Joseph’s (Me.) Defeats Falcons 89-51 in GNAC Tournament Play
The Albertus Magnus women’s basketball team dropped an 89-51 decision to Saint Joseph’s College of Maine on Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference quarterfinal action. Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) led the way for the Falcons as she finished with 16 points.

Women’s Basketball to Face Saint Joseph’s in GNAC Tournament
The Albertus Magnus women’s basketball team will make its 12th Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament appearance on Tuesday as the seventh-seeded Falcons head to Standish, Maine to take on No. 2 Saint Joseph’s College in a quarterfinal match-up. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.

Despite 25 points and 10 rebounds from Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) and 17 points and 10 rebounds from Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus women’s basketball team fell to Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) in overtime by a score of 79-75 on Saturday afternoon.

Falcons Earn First Winning Regular Season in Eight Years
Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) scored 20 points to lead the Albertus Magnus women’s basketball team to a 71-61 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Lasell on Saturday afternoon. Karle played 37 minutes for the Falcons, while shooting 7-of-19 from the floor.

Albertus Magnus to Host Play 4Kay on Feb. 18
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball teams are coming together in February to fundraise and spread awareness for breast cancer in the conference-wide Play 4Kay. This will be the fifth year that the GNAC, with its fourteen school membership, participates in this great initiative.

The newest members of the Hall of Fame include two-sport athlete Candice Giordano Damico ’03; women’s basketball’s Natalia Perlaza ’05, men’s basketball’s Tim Russell ’05, and baseball’s Jason “Jay” Wyatt ’03.
