Albertus Magnus College announces the appointment of Michael Spinner as director of athletics effective September 1.
President Julia M. McNamara said “We are delighted to welcome Mike Spinner to the Albertus community. He has demonstrated a strong personal commitment to the mission and purposes of NCAA Division III sports programs and to the importance of establishing positive relationships between the goals of rigorous academic programs and equally as rigorous athletic pursuits on the several college campuses where he has served over time in positions of increasing responsibility.”
Spinner joins Albertus from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland where he served as director of athletics. He served previously as associate director of athletics at Yeshiva University in New York City, where his work included the management of the sports information program as well as responsibilities for the marketing of athletic programs and for public and media relations for the athletic department. At the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York, he served as assistant director of athletics and head coach of the women’s lacrosse team.
In addition to his college-related experiences in New York, Spinner also has been sports information director for the Hudson Valley men’s and women’s athletic conferences in Bronxville. His career has included lacrosse coaching appointments at several other colleges and high schools as well as professional experiences in journalism.
Spinner is a graduate of Pace University, New York, where he earned the bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in political science; he holds a master’s degree in sports management from the State University of New York at Cortland.
