NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Avery Hinnant (Naugatuck, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team and Ava Murphy (West haven, Conn.) of the women's basketball team were both named Falcon of the Week for their performances this past week.
Hinnant went 4-for-4 from the field and finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in a win over Elms on Tuesday. On Saturday, he had eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a win over Norwich. The senior is currently second in the league in blocks with 28.
Murphy helped the Falcons to a 2-0 week in conference play. She had two points and five rebounds in a 65-52 win over Elms on Tuesday. She followed up with 10 rebounds, including five offensive rebounds in a win over Norwich on Saturday. The sophomore forward has come on strong since the start of December and is averaging 7.7 rebounds per game in the last nine games.
