West Haven, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Baseball Program drop a pair of non conference games against visiting Western CT State University on Wednesday night.
Game One saw the Falcons fail to plate a run after loading the bases with no outs and the heart of the order at the plate. Two infield fly outs and a ground ball out to second base proved to be costly and untimely as Western CT escaped the inning with the 1-0 lead. The Falcons defense would falter with Western CT getting the 9-0 victory.
Game Two saw a Falcons rally come up short for the second time in three games. Trailing 11-6 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Albertus loaded the bases with two outs and the tying run in scoring position. Western CT's #1 starter Billy Armstrong (Moodus, CT) was brought in to face senior Cameron Giordano (Hamden, CT) who fouled two pitches straight back to the screen. After working the count to 2-2, Giordano struck out swinging to end the rally. The 11-9 loss marks the second time in three games that the Falcons have stranded the tying run on base to end the game. Albertus drops to 8-21, 4-6 GNAC and looks to rebound Friday as they host Wesleyan University on Friday at 4:00 pm.
