NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Peyton Thomas (Washington, Conn.) pitched a complete game shutout, while Joey O'Hara (Bethel, Conn.) hit a grand slam in game one as the Albertus Magnus College baseball team split a doubleheader with Dean College on Sunday at Rochford Field. The Falcons took game one, 9-0, before falling in game two, 15-5.
Thomas threw seven innings, giving up five hits, walking four while striking out seven batters on the day. O'Hara's grand slam was the second in as many days as he hit one in game one on Saturday against Colby-Sawyer.
Eric Galarza (Bridgeport, Conn.) also hit a home run in game one as he drove in four runs in the game. He also had two hits in game two.
Mark Whittington (Meriden, Conn.) homered in game two and drove in three runs. Adriel Espada (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored four runs between the two games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thomas cruised through the first three innings, striking out three batters and allowing just two hits. The Falcons offense rewarded him with three runs in the bottom of the third as Galarza hit his third home run of the season on a three-run shot to centerfield that scored Brayden Hastings (Wallingford, Conn.), who doubled and Espada, who walked earlier in the inning.
- In the top of the fifth, Thomas got out of a bases loaded jam without allowing a run to keep Dean scoreless. In the bottom of the inning with a runner already on, Dean's Domenic Brazeau walked three straight batters - the final one to Galarza - to plate a run. O'Hara then came up and hit a ball that left little doubt and went over the centerfield wall for his seventh home run - and second grand slam - of the season to put the Falcons ahead, 8-0. Alex Perez (Meriden, Conn.) added a sacrifice fly for the final run.
- Thomas struckout a batter in both the sixth and seventh innings and left four runners on base during those innings to preserve the win.
