Men's Golf Defeats MCLA In Dual Match

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team won its final home dual match of the season, defeating the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) with a 27-over par 307 while the Trailblazers shot a 57-over par 337 at the New Haven Country Club on Tuesday.

Sam Witt (Calgary, Alberta) and Nick Piselli (Milford, Conn.) both shot a 6-over par 76, tying them for second overall. Witt shot a 38 on each nine, and had a birdie on the par three 12th hole. Piselli, who shot a 1-over 35 on the front had two birdies on the fifth and ninth holes.

Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Conn.) finished a stroke behind Witt and Piselli with a 7-over par 77 with 11 pars on the day.

Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.), who was playing in his final home match at Albertus finished with a 78. He shot a 37 on the front nine and had a birdie on the tenth  hole.

Charles Lavoie (Chicoutimi, Quebec), who shot an 87, led all Albertus players with three birdies on his day, all coming on the back nine.

Matthew Gover of MCLA was the individual medalist, as she shot a 3-over par 73, including an eagle on the par five 18th hole.
