HAMDEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team won its first match of the season and Pierson Hester (Nashville, Tenn.) picked up his first individual medalist honor in his first collegiate tournament at the Albertus Magnus College Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the New Haven Country Club.
The Falcons "A" team finished with a score of 313, putting them +33 for the day. Emmanuel College finished ten strokes behind Albertus in second place at 323. Western Connecticut State University finished third at 334. The Albertus "B" team finished fourth at 364, followed by SUNY Purchase (368) and Elms (377).
Hester finished with a four-over par 74 after starting his round with a triple bogey on the first hole. After finishing with a 40 on the front nine, Hester birdied two of his first three holes on the back nine en-route to a 34 coming in. Hester finished with three birdies on the back, including holes 10, 12 and 18.
Nick Piselli (Milford, Conn.) finished with a 77 (+7), followed by Kyle Sikorski (Norwich, Conn.) (80). Piselli shot a 35 on the front, including birdies on the first and sixth holes. He also birdied the 13th hole on the back nine. Sikorski shot a 39 on the front and 41 on the back nine.
Andrew Buckholz (New Haven, Conn.) shot an 82 and Sam Witt (Calgary, Alberta), an 84 to round out the Albertus A team.
For the Albertus "B" team, Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) shot an 84, including a 38 on the front nine. Robert Barrasso (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Dylan Florio (Durham, Conn.) each shot a 92. AJ Lackas (Las Vegas, NV) shot a 96 and Robert Weiss (Utrecht, Netherlands), a 98.
