Men's Ice Hockey Splits Weekend Series; Defeats St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team split the weekend with St. John Fisher, as they defeated the Cardinals 5-2 on Saturday evening in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game.

There were five different goal scorers for the Falcons, as Kyle Dann (Windham, N.H.), Zane Kindrachuk (Calgary, Alberta), Maksim Tseglnik (Moscow, Russia), Sam Witt (Calgary, Alberta), and Kyler Campbell (Huntsville, Ontario) each had a goal for the Falcons.

Witt, Dann, Campbell, and Tseglnik each scored their first goal of the season.

Chace Hale (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 27 saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons struck first when Dann's initial shot was denied by Cardinals goaltender Sebastian Woods, but he followed up and buried the rebound to give the Falcons a 1–0 lead 12:33 into the first period.
  • St. John Fisher answered with a goal at the 19:28 mark from Kenneth Brodie, equalizing the game seconds before the end of the first period.
  • To start the second period, the Cardinals took the lead after Sam Ciappa buried a loose puck to make it a 2-1 game.
  • The Falcons made it a 2-2 game after William Lavigne (Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, Québec) and Connor Bertamini (Calagry, Alberta) connected with Kindrachuk, who slotted the puck past Woods, netting the equalizer on the power play.
  • Just three minutes later, Justin Sullivan (Laval, Quebec) and Charles Lavoie (Chicoutimi, Québec) connected with Tseglnik, who was in perfect position to slip the puck past Woods, giving the Falcons a 3-2 lead.
  • Witt made it a 4-2 game as the puck landed on his stick from Tseglnik's faceoff, and he put away a shot from distance at the 4:59 mark in the third period.
  • Campbell sealed it, as he received a pass from Tseglnik, beating a Cardinals defender and scoring the final goal of the game, for a 5-2 win.
