HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Chatham struck first as Caden Pendo took a shot and scored, giving the Cougars an early 1–0 advantage at the 2:44 mark of the first period.
  • Albertus responded quickly at the 4:00 mark, as Maksim Tsegelnik (Moscow, Russia) won a faceoff for the Falcons, getting the puck to the stick of Sullivan, who fired a shot to equalize the game at 1-1.
  • Chatham was able to score once more in the first period when Nicholas Babbie put one past the Falcons at the 12:04 mark.
  • The Cougars widened the gap to 3-1 as Charlie Smith took a shot and scored at the 3:32 mark in the second period.
  • The Falcons began to chip away at the Cougars' lead as Sullivan and Charles Lavoie (Chicoutimi, Québec) combined to create a turn-around chance that was blocked by Chatham. Chamandy jumped on the loose puck and fed Sullivan once more, and Sullivan buried a shot from the circle to make it 3–2 at 7:41 of the second period, and scoring his second goal of the game.
  • Chatham widened their lead once again as Bekk McClaine was able to poke the puck past Falcon defenders for a breakaway finish at the 10:23 mark of the second period, making it a 4-2 game.
  • Albertus answered once again as Kirwin won the faceoff and got the puck to Zeth Kindrachuk (Calagry, Alberta), who sent a pass to Chamandy. Scoring his first goal of the season, Chamandy fired the puck through pressure from the blue line, making it a 4-3 game at the 14:16 mark.
  • Chatham netted the game-winning goal on the Cougar power play at the 17:18 mark as the team strung a series of passes together, finding Tyler Samodral in front of the net, who put away the fifth and final goal.
  • The Falcons put one more goal away as Connor Bertamini (Calagry, Alberta) took a shot that went just wide of the net, with the rebound landing on the stick of Kirwin, who netted a buzzer-beater shot that made the final score 5-4 on the evening.
