Duryea Records 300th Career Save; Men's Lacrosse Falls to Emmanuel (Mass.)

BOSTON, Mass. — Nick Duryea (East Haven, Conn.) nabbed his 300th career save in the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team's 20-2 loss in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Emmanuel College (Mass.) on Saturday.

Derrick Mejia (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded two points with a goal and an assist. Anthony Brikes (Staten Island, N.Y.) netted a goal, while Cooper Strecker (Chester, Conn.) aided in a goal for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emmanuel opened the contest with six goals in the first period, including a pair by Cole Cloney to take a 6-0 lead.
  • The Saints continued to increase their lead, scoring the first seven goals of the second quarter to take a 13-0 edge as Cooper Melhorn and Ryan Etzo scored twice.
  • Mejia put the Falcons on the board with 34 seconds remaining in the half. Albertus took advantage of the extra-man opportunity as Strecker set up the visitor's first goal of the contest in the closing seconds of the second period. The Saints added one more goal in the quarter 13 seconds later to take a 14-1 lead into halftime.
  • Duryea collected fifteen of his saves in the first half of action, with his 300th save coming at the 1:51 mark of the second quarter on a shot by Ethan Madura.
  • The Saints collected for more goals, along with a player-up goal by Ryan Etzo at 7:50 in the third quarter.
  • With 4:41 remaining in regulation, Brikes tallied another goal for the Falcons with the assist by Mejia.
