NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team opened up their 2026 campaign with a victory at home against the Amcats of Anna Maria College, 8-5.
Marcus Burrows (West Haven, Conn.) Introduced himself to his new teammates with a hat trick. He also had a pair of assists on the night. Cooper Strecker (Chester, Conn.) had six points on the night, joining the 100-point club. Alexis Gonzalez (Edison, N.J.) made the start in goal for the Falcons, earning his first career win and making 12 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The AMCATS were in control to start the game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead over the Falcons, with goals coming from Nicholas Hussa, Jacob Martin, and Miles Cormier.
- The Falcons responded with a goal from Strecker and two goals from Burrows, to even the game at three going into the second half.
- At 4:54 in the third, the Falcons took the lead as Strecker found the net after taking a pass from Sean Keenan (Franklin Square, N.Y.). Shortly after that, Burrows fed the ball to Nicholas Longo (Ridge, N.Y) for his first career goal. With under three minutes to go in the third, Martin got one past Gonzalez to put the Amcats within one. But with only 16 seconds left in the quarter, Strecker set up Daniel Gomez (Yonkers, N.Y.) for his first career goal.
- With the Falcons up 6-4 entering the fourth quarter, they found the net two more times, courtesy of Longo and Burrows. Strecker had the assist on both goals. Anna Maria added a goal with under a minute to go, but the Falcons held on the rest of the way.
