Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team went 2-0 at home last week, defeating in-state rival Western Connecticut, 2-1, in overtime in midweek action before blanking Emmanuel, 3-0, over the weekend in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. Albertus Magnus enters the sixth week of the season with a 7-2-1 overall record and a 2-1-1 mark in league contests. Junior Justyn Broderick had a stellar week for the Falcons, scoring the game-winner in overtime against the Colonials before scoring a pair of goals in the victory versus the Saints.
This Week: Albertus Magnus hits the road to face in-state rival Coast Guard in midweek, non-conference action before hosting Saint Joseph's (Maine) in league play on Saturday.

Last Fall Against the Bears: Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Joe Russo stopped all three shots he faced as the Falcons topped Coast Guard, 2-0, last October in New Haven. Ben Colter and Alexis Garcia-Romero scored the AMC goals in the victory.

Last Year Versus the Monks: During the regular season, Saint Joseph's (Maine) blanked Albertus Magnus, 3-0, at home. The Falcons got their revenge in the GNAC Quarterfinals with a 2-1 overtime triumph that ended the Monks season. In the postseason win, Matt Muller tied the game at 1 midway through the second half for AMC and Alex Zapata delivered the game-winner in overtime.
NOTES:
- Broderick had a stellar week for the Falcons and landed on the GNAC Honor Roll. He scored three goals as the team picked up two wins. In a 2-1 non-conference win against in-state rival Western Connecticut he netted the game-winning goal. Over the weekend, he scored two markers in a 3-0 victory against Emmanuel in GNAC play. Both of his tallies against the Saints came in a 12-minute span in the first half and were assisted by Zapata. His goal against Western Connecticut was his second overtime game-winner of the fall.
- Zapata assisted on both of Broderick's goals in the GNAC win against at Emmanuel on Saturday. The helpers were the first two of the season for him. In five appearances this fall, he has registered 10 points thanks to four goals and two assists. He currently ranks sixth in program history with 73 points, sixth in career goals with 27 and eighth in assists with 19.
- Russo racked up a .909 save percentage with 10 saves and a .45 goals-against average as the Falcons won a pair of games last week. Russo turned aside two shots in a 2-1 overtime victory against Western Connecticut in midweek action before stopping all eight shots he faced in a 3-0 victory against Emmanuel in conference play. The shutout was his third of the season and the first in conference action. On the year, he is 7-2-1 with 43 saves, a .796 save percentage and a 1.14 goals-against average.
- Albertus Magnus is 5-2 in one-goal games this fall. Eight of the 10 Albertus Magnus games this season, including seven of the last eight, have been decided by one goal of fewer. In overtime, the Falcons are 2-0-1 in 2016.
