NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team dropped its first match, 5-2, this season against Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday.

The Wolves nabbed the doubles point with straight wins in No. 1 and No. 2, but Peter Keese (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Bailey Kirwin (Barrie, Ontario) disrupted the sweep with an 8-3 win in Doubles at No. 3.

The visitors secured the first singles victory at No. 2, but Eric Chamandy (Montreal, Québec) retaliated with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Kevin Tenesaca at No. 1 singles. WestConn collected the next three wins at No. 6, 4, and 3, respectively, before Kirwin tabbed the final point for Albertus. Kirwin dominated in the first set for the 6-2 win, followed by a 7-6 (4) tiebreaking victory as match point came off an out-of-bounds return by Bhavya Rana.

Through five matches played this season, Chamandy remained undefeated for the Falcons in singles action.
