NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a phenomenal senior campaign that saw the Albertus Magnus College softball team ascend to new heights, including a 29-11 overall record, a program-record 20-game winning streak, and a second-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) semi-final appearance, fifth-year senior Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.) was named one of the top Division III hitters to watch for the 2023 season by FloSoftball.
Geloso had a monstrous 2022 season, in which she slashed .496/.546/.803 across 36 games while connecting for 58 hits, including a career-high four homeruns, to go along with four triples and a career-best 16 doubles. The Beacon Falls native scored a career-high 37 runs and tallied a career-best 39 RBIs. Geloso was also perfect in the field, going 22-for-22 for a 1.000 fielding percentage.
For her efforts, Geloso was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year and was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team as a utility player. Geloso also collected three GNAC Player of the Week awards during the 2022 campaign.
Her on-field prowess did not go unnoticed, and with less than a month before the start of the 2023 season, FloSoftball named Geloso one of the Top-10 DIII hitters to watch entering the 2023 season, ranking her third on the list of DIII sluggers. Geloso joins a cast of terrific DIII players from around the country, including Kaelani Gamble from conference-foe Johnson & Wales University and Lizzy Byers from SUNY Cortland.
The Falcons open their 2023 campaign with their annual trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. Opening Day is slated for March 12th, when the Falcons will play a split doubleheader with Wilson College and Skidmore College at 9 AM and 1 PM.
