NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Karla Carangelo (Cheshire, Conn.), Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) and Amelia Ovalles (Lawrence, Mass.) of the Albertus Magnus College softball team were each named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor Roll for their performance during a 5-1 week for the Falcons.
For the week, Carangelo batted .450 (9-for-20) with three home runs, a double, three triples, while scoring ten runs and driving in 12. She also had a .476 on base percentage and a 1.250 slugging percentage.
In a 13-4 win over Plymouth State in game one of a doubleheader on March 25th, Carangelo went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, two runs and five RBI. In game two of a 9-4 win over Regis on March 28th, she went 1-for-4 with a triple one RBI and a run. In the first game of a doubleheader against Lasell, she went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs and four RBI in an 8-0 win. In a 9-7 game two win, she went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs and an RBI. She also struck out eight batters in 6.1 innings of work.
Jabs had a phenomenal week in the circle, going 3-0 in 18.1 innings, striking out 19 batters with a 0.38 ERA, including a no-hitter in a game one win over Lasell. In the win over Plymouth state, she pitched five innings, striking out four and giving up just one earned run.
In a complete game shutout over Regis, she threw seven innings, and struck out a career-high 11 batters, allowing just two hits in the 5-0 victory for the Falcons. Against Lasell in game one, she retired the final 18 batters she faced in the no-hitter after the first batter of the game reached on an error. She also struck out four batters on the day in six innings.
Ovalles batted .563 (9-for-16) with a .750 slugging percentage over the week with three doubles, three runs and seven RBI. In a game against Plymouth State, she went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI. In the doubleheader sweep against Regis, she went a combined 4-for-6 with three doubles and five RBI. She also scored two runs and drove in one in the doubleheader sweep against Lasell on Sunday.
In the circle, Ovalles went 2-0 during the week, pitching 8.2 innings with nine strikeouts and a 3.23 ERA.
