NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College softball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week while Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) was named to the conference's Weekly Honor Roll.
In 10.1 innings over two appearances, Jabs went 1-1 with 15 strikeouts and a 0.68 ERA.
During a 2-1 eight-inning complete game win over Mitchell on April 20th, Jabs struck out a career-high 14 batters, allowing just four hits and three walks and no earned runs as the Falcons clinched the GNAC South Division regular season title. Jabs also struck out a batter in 2.1 innings in relief against Saint Joseph's (Me.) on April 25th.
Austin batted .500 during the week and had a .625 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage as she went 6-for-12 from the plate, including two doubles and four walks.
In the 2-1 game one win over Mitchell, on April 20th Austin went 2-for-4, including a game-winning walk-off RBI double in the eighth inning. She also had two hits in game two against the Mariners.
Against Saint Joseph's (Maine), she went 2-for-5 with four walks, two runs and an RBI in the doubleheader. In the game two win, she went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a stolen base and an RBI.
The Falcons return to action Wednesday as they host Lasell at 1 p.m. in the first day of Pod B play of the GNAC tournament.
