Women's Ice Hockey Drops UCHC Game To Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey team lost a 5-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game to Elmira College on Friday evening.

Kayla Clark (Avon, Conn.) scored the lone goal for the Falcons on assists from Molly Martin (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Kurtia Yetman (Winnipeg, Manitoba).

Christmas Johnson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) had 35 saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A scoreless first period saw Johnson stop 13 of her shots on net while her counterpart, Olivia Last stopped all seven shots she faced.
  • Elmira got on the board at the 7:12 mark of the second period as a shot from Amber Meluzio was stopped, but Mk Boyle grabbed the rebound and put a shot past Johnson to make it a 1-0 game.
  • Clark tied the game over seven minutes later on the power play. On the goal, Martin kept the puck onside and passed to Yetman who sent a cross-ice pass to Clark who ripped a shot past Last to tie the game, 1-1.
  • Anna Lugge gave Elmira the 2-1 lead with under two minutes remaining in the second period after receiving a pass from Annie Audet.
  • Elmira scored three more goals in the third to put the game away as Mo McBride and Abby Eselunas added a goal, while Lugge added her second goal of the game.
