WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's and women's swimming teams lost their dual matches agaisnt the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and Plymouth State University on Friday evening.
The women's team lost 181-35 to USJ and fell to Plymouth State, 139-43. The men fell 350-46 to USJ and 248-65 against Plymouth State.
On the women's side, Mia Ashley Dominguez Cortes (Tlajomulco, Mexico) won three events, including the the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:09.10, which was nearly 11 seconds ahead of second place. She also took home the 50-yard breaststroke title with a time of 36.63, while teammate Alyssa Defeo (Wallingford, Conn.) placed third with a time of 42.59. In the 100 yard breaststroke, Cortes finished at 1:17.14 in her win.
For the men, Alexander Wynn had a time of 1:12.50 in the 100-yard butterfly, which placed him third. He also placed third in the 500-yard freestyle.
Up next, the Falcons host Westfield State at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
