Women's Tennis Defeats New Rochelle on Sunday Afternoon

New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team defeated New Rochelle, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference battle at New Rochelle High School. Following today's win, the Falcons earned their third shutout win of the season.

In doubles play, Albertus Magnus cruised to three victories to take the lead heading into singles action. The Falcons tandem of Alicia Weaver (Bethel, Conn.) and Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) picked up the first win of the day, 8-0, for the visitors at No. 1, while the duo of Nallely Magana (East Haven, Conn.) and Paige Williams (Orange County, Va.) raced past their opponent, 8-0, at No. 3. Freshman Jessica Coughlin (Durham, Conn.) and senior Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.) wrapped up doubles action with an 8-0 shutout victory at No. 2.

Albertus Magnus won all six matches, including five shutout wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Weaver also earned a "W" for the Falcons as she defeated Ja'Shay Ariel Davis at No. 1 by a score of 10-6.
