HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hartford jumped out to a 7-2 lead early on before the Falcons battled back to cut their deficit to 12-11 as Pelaez had two kills and Yarieshka Sierra (Hartford, Conn.) had a kill and an ace to help trim the gap. With the Falcons trailing 13-12, a kill by Hartford's Julianna Robinshaw started a 10-2 run that gave the Hawks a commanding 23-14 lead. Albertus scored the next two, one on an ace by Alexys Signor (North Haven, Conn.), but two errors by the Falcons gave Hartford the early 1-0 match lead.
- Albertus dropped the first five points of the second set before scoring five of the next six points as Pelaez had a kill and back-to-back aces. It was the closest the Falcons would get as Hartford took control, eventually finishing the set on a 10-2 run, including the final four points.
- After trailing 7-2 early in the third set, Albertus fought back to within 14-11 lead behind kills by Pelaez and Emma Fallon (Harwinton, Conn.) and a number of errors from the Hawks. Hartford extended its lead back to seven points at 19-12 but once again Albertus rattled off three straight points to trim the deficit back to four. Hartford, however, scored the final six points - the last three on aces - to win the match.
