Askew Named to 1st Team ECAC All New England

The Albertus Magnus College Men's Basketball program added another honor to it's record breaking 2010 season.  The 23-7 Falcons reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history advancing to the second round before falling to DeSales University.  Sophomore forward Ray Askew (Hamden, CT) who was named GNAC Player of the Year was named First Team All New England this afternoon.  Askew averaged 22.2 points per game (19th nationally) and 12.2 rebounds per game (8th nationally) to lead the Falcons from a preseason number one ranking to a first place finish in the GNAC regular post seasons.  "Ray is certainly deserving of this award.  He is not only a tremendous player but a tremendous student-athlete as well.  Ray has improved himself everyday that he has stepped on campus," said 2010 GNAC Coach of the Year Mitch Oliver.  The Falcons future is very bright with the graduation of lone senior guard Sha'Ron Young (New Haven, CT) and the entire starting lineup returning next season.  Albertus Magnus was ranked 35th nationally in scoring while ranking 9th nationally in blocked shots per game and 6th nationally in defending the three pointer.
