New Haven, Conn. – Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse Head Coach Darryl Delia (3rd season) has announced his team's schedule for the upcoming 2016 season. In total, the Falcons will take to the field 13 times this spring, highlighted by eight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tilts and seven contests in front of their home crowd at Celentano Field.
Entering just its third varsity season, Albertus Magnus is coming off a 3-11 campaign that featured victories against Mitchell, Anna Maria and Lyndon State. The triumph against the AMCATS was the third conference win in team history. This season, the squad will look to a strong core of returners and some new talent to move up in the GNAC standings.
"This year, we open up our home schedule with a new foe, Wheelock, as well as adding new opponents to our slate in Mount Saint Mary and Deianiel Webster," Delia said. "We are excited to introduce the new lights on Celentano field this year and play our first-ever game versus league rival Anna Maria."
The Falcons open their slate with a quartet of non-conference games in March with a home game versus Wheelock (3/12) sandwiched around road clashes against Mass. Maritime (3/5) and Daniel Webster (3/19). AMC closes the first month of play with a home game against regional foe Emerson (3/26). The tilt with Buccaneers on the fifth marks the second time in three years the two squads square off in the season opener.
Albertus Magnus begins conference play in April with five consecutive GNAC games. The team hosts Norwich (4/2) before traveling to Johnson & Wales (4/6) and Saint Joseph's (Me.) (4/9). Following the contest against the Monks, the Falcons begins a four-game homestand as Anna Maria (4/13), Lasell (4/16), Mitchell (4/21) and Rivier (4/23) come to the Elm City.
Delia's team ends the regular season with road league games against Mount Ida (4/27) and Emmanuel (4/30).
