Winthrop, Mass. – After scoring a 20-7 victory against Wheelock in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon, a pair of men's lacrosse players were honored with weekly awards from the conference. Junior midfielder Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week and sophomore netminder Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) was tabbed as the GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Bennet receives weekly league-wide distinction for the first time in his career, while Kerner picked up his second career accolade from the conference after being tabbed as GNAC Rookie of the Week in March of last season.

Bennet was dominant in the face-off circle for the Falcons last week, winning 23-of-27 versus the Wildcats. He grabbed a career-high and new program record 19 ground balls and also added four caused turnovers for Albertus Magnus. On the offensive end, Bennet netted a game-high six tallies and added an assist for a season-best seven points.

Between the pipes, Kerner turned aside 13 shots in over 55 minutes action to earn his first victory of the spring last week. In a non-conference triumph against Wheelock, he had a .684 save percentage and a 6.49 goals-against for Albertus Magnus.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, March 19, with a road non-conference clash against Daniel Webster at 1:00 pm. The Falcons are looking for their second straight win versus the Eagles, after topping Daniel Webster, 26-12, at home during the 2014 season.
