Winthrop, Mass. – For the second time this spring, Albertus Magnus College sophomore men's lacrosse player Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday afternoon as announced by the league office.
Kerner picked up his second weekly accolade of the season after earning the same distinction two weeks ago. It is also the third time in his young career he's been highlighted by the league, after being tabbed as the GNAC Rookie of the Week in March of last season.
Kerner went 1-1 last week for the Falcons with 37 saves and a .637 save percentage. He surrendered just over 10 goals a game for Albertus Magnus. In a 14-11 win versus Mt. St. Vincent, he made a season-high 25 saves and recorded a .694 save percentage. Kerner followed that up with 12 saves in a 10-6 conference setback against Norwich. He currently ranks third in the GNAC with a .606 save percentage.
Albertus Magnus returns to action on Wednesday, April 6, with a road conference contest against Johnson & Wales that gets underway at 7:00 pm. The Falcons are looking to avenge a 13-9 loss to the Wildcats in the Elm City a year ago.
