New Haven, CT - A record breaking 13-4-1 regular season finish, and a trip to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship and ECAC New England Tournament berth as the #5 seed was enough to garner several post-season awards. Six Falcons were named to the GNAC All-Conference team as Albertus Magnus won a program record 13 times during the regular season.
Junior forward and co-captain Jamal Howard (West Haven, CT/West Haven) was named 1st Team All-Conference following a stellar offensive season for the Falcons. Howard led the team in goals (12) and was second on the team in points (28), assists (4), and shots (83). He ranked 3rd in goals, 3rd in points, and 4th in assists and shots in the GNAC this season.
Sophomore midfielder Steven Zapata (Hamden, CT/Hamden) was named 1st Team All-Conference after he helped lead one of the most potent offenses in the GNAC. Steven took every single one of the GNAC leading 116 corner kicks for Albertus this season. The Falcons' offense finished the season ranked 1st in shots (374) and 3rd in points (104) and goals (40) during the regular season. Zapata was first on the team in points (29) and assists (13) while ranking second in goals (8) and third in shots (66). He ranked 2nd in assists, 4th in points, 7th in shots, and 10th in goals in the GNAC this season.
Sophomore defender Nick Hamasian (Hamden, CT/Hamden) was named 1st Team All-Conference after a strong season playing in the back for the Falcons. Hamasian led a strong Falcons' defense that had nine shutouts during the season while contributing three goals of his own during the season. The Falcons were ranked first in nearly every defensive category this season.
Freshman midfielder Rafael Guillen (Bakersfield, CA/Foot Hill) was named 2nd Team All-Conference after an outstanding rookie campaign for the Falcons. Guillen scored four goals and added one assist on the season while anchoring the midfield this season. He combined with Zapata to represent one of the strongest midfields in recent memory.
Sophomore defender Chris Long (West Haven, CT/West Haven) represented a strong physical presence in the back for the GNAC's best defensive unit this season. At 6'2" and 195 pounds, Long controlled the back and was a responsible for directing the back through out the season. He added two assists during the Falcons' record breaking season.
Freshman goal keeper Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck) was named 3rd Team All-Conference after an outstanding rookie campaign for the Falcons. Dineson played in 19 games and had a GNAC leading 0.83 Goals against average while making 85 saves and earning nine shutouts. Piroscafo was a mainstay in his rookie season for the Falcons contributing to the GNAC's top defensive unit this season.
