Freshman Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) and junior Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) have earned two major Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors after leading the Falcons to a 2-0 win over Suffolk in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinals.

Alex led the Falcons with the game-winning goal in the eighth minute of play on Saturday to be named the GNAC Rookie of the Week. He now has nine goals and two assists on the year for 20 points for the Falcons. His goal advances the Falcons to a semifinal round match-up with Emerson College, which is set for Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Piroscafo recorded his eighth shutout of the year on Saturday in the 2-0 victory. He picked up two saves in the contest as he earns GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the fourth time this season.

Stephen Zapata was also recognized by the conference as he earned a spot on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll. Zapata netted the Falcons' second goal in their quarterfinal match-up as he connected on a penalty kick in the contest.
