Winthrop, Mass. – For the third time this year, Albertus Magnus College freshman men's tennis player Steven Woodfield (Naugatuck, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week.
Woodfield went 2-2 overall last week for the Falcons, winning one singles and one doubles match. Both of his victories came in a season-ending non-conference win versus Mitchell on Sunday. He cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles with partner Ahmed Abdulateef (Hamden, Conn.) and won at No. 5 singles in straight sets.
Albertus Magnus closed out the spring on Sunday, April 24, with a 7-2 win versus Mitchell to end the year with a 7-4 overall record. The victory against the Mariners was the second of the spring for the Falcons.
