Men's Volleyball Freshman Jeremy Ortiz Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College freshman men's volleyball player Jeremy Ortiz (Bridgeport, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office.

Oritz becomes the first Falcon to win the award under second-year Head Coach Kelvin Jones. The 5-8 setter is also the first Albertus Magnus men's volleyball player to earn weekly distinction from the league since Raymond Torres during the 2014 season.

He averaged 10.33 assists per set in a pair of non-conference wins for the Falcons last week. In a 3-0 victory against CCNY, he registered 27 assists and followed that up with 35 assists in a 3-0 triumph versus Medgar Evers. Oritz currently ranks sixth in the GNAC in assists per set (8.05).

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Wednesday, February 24, with a road conference clash against Mount Ida at 6:00 pm.
