Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College senior men's volleyball player Justin Tharau (Burlington, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon as announced by the league office.
Tharau becomes the second Falcon to earn weekly honors from the league, joining freshman Jeremy Oritz (Bridgeport, Conn.) who was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week in mid-February. The distinction for Tharau is the first of his career.
The 6-0 outside hitter averaged 4.43 digs per set for the Falcons in a pair of losses last week. He also contributed on the offensive side, averaging 3.00 kills per set against Emerson and Emmanuel.
Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, March 22, with a road conference clash versus Emmanuel at 7:00 pm.
