PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) scored a game-high 31 points, while Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) scored 21 as the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team defeated Bates College, 68-66 in the semifinals of the Anchorwomen Invitational on Friday evening on the campus of Rhode Island College (RIC).
Scott moved up to fifth all-time in program history in scoring, as she now has 1,573 points in her career. She is just three points shy of fourth place and 17 shy of third place. White moved up two spots in the all-time scoring list and is now 15th all-time with 1,060.
Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Falcons now advance to the finals of the Anchorwomen Invitational where they will take on host RIC at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bates jumped out to a 14-4 lead over five minutes into the first quarter behind two threes from Sarah Hughes early on. The Falcons were able to trim down the deficit tp 21-14 at the end of the first quarter behind eight points in the quarter from Scott.
- Scott scored the first two points of the second quarter before Elsa Daulerio of Bates hit a jumper. Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.) then made it a one-possession game at 23-20 after a three-pointer. The Bobcats then went back ahead by seven points two more times until a three from Murray-Leach followed by a layup from Scott put the Falcons back to within two at 29-27. The two teams exchanged the final four points of the half as Bates led 31-29 at halftime.
- Scott went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line over the first 3:29 of the second half, the final one giving Albertus its first lead of the game at 36-35. On the following possession, White buried a three-pointer, putting the Falcons up 39-35. The Bobcats briefly tied the game up at 39-39, but the Falcons closed out the final 4:26 of the quarter with a 15-6 run to take a 54-45 lead heading into the fourth. White scored seven points during the run, including a 30-foot three-pointer she banked in before the buzzer.
- A 7-2 run to start the fourth quarter gave Albertus its biggest lead of the game at 61-47. Scott started the quarter with back-to-back layups while White hit a three. Bates rallied over the next six minutes to cut the Albertus lead to 64-62 behind seven points from Sophie Solter. White then followed with an elbow jumper to put Albertus back up four points but a layup on the ensuing possession from Solter once again cut the Albertus lead to two points. The two teams exchanged free throws over the next 35 seconds as Albertus led 68-66 with 11 seconds left. On the final possession for Bates, Solter missed a layup. Elsa Daulerio grabbed the offensive rebound for Bates, but Zdru was able to swat the ball away as the Falcons held on for the win.
