Women's Basketball Lose In Anchorwomen Invitational Championship To RIC

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team lost in the championship game of the Anchorwomen Invitational, 72-50 by host, Rhode Island College (RIC) on Saturday afternoon.

Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) led all scorers with 16 points while Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) scored 14 points with four rebounds and three assists.

Scott moved into fourth all-time in program history in points, and now has 1,587 in her career. White moved up to 14th all-time, and has 1,076 in her career.

Scott was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Anchorwomen jumped out to an 11-0 lead behind four points from Meagan Schuermann. Albertus scored their first points at the 4:08 mark on a layup from White. Scott scored the next three points of the quarter, but RIC took a 21-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • After falling behind 27-9 in the second quarter, Albertus cut its deficit to 31-18 at halftime behind six points from White during the quarter.
  • The Anchorwomen increased its lead to 27 points after the third period as they hit four three-pointers during the quarter. Murray-Leach had five points in the quarter for Albertus.
  • The Falcons outscored RIC, 21-16 in the final quarter. White scored eight points in the fourth, all coming consecutively.
