Scott Scores 37 Points In Women's Basketball Rout Of Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. - Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) scored 37 points as the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team opened up 2025 with a resounding 82-57 win over Manhattanville College on Thursday afternoon.

Scott went 6-for-15 from three and also grabbed six rebounds with two assists and two steals. Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) had 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out five assists.

It was the third time this season and second straight game Scott has scored 30 or more points.

The Falcons never trailed in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • White and Ava Johnson (North Haven, Conn.) scored the first four points of the game for the Falcons. After Manhattanville scored the next four, Murray-Leach and White each hit a three sandwiched by a basket by Manhattanville's Niyona Smith as Albertus took a 10-6 lead with 4:38 left in the first quarter. The Falcons allowed just one more field goal the rest of the quarter as they took a 17-9 lead after the first 10 minutes of action.
  • Albertus blew the doors off the game just over two minutes into the second quarter, opening up with an 11-1 run to take a 28-10 lead. The Falcons hit three consecutive threes inside the first 77 seconds of the quarter as Murray-Leach, Hannah Barrientos (East Hampton, Conn.) and Scott each hit one from deep. White ended the run with a layup of her own with 7:45 left on the clock. The Valiants got back to within 30-16 after a three from Madison Carlo, but a three from Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn) put Albertus ahead 33-16. Scott scored the final eight points for Albertus in the second quarter as she hit a jumper followed by a three-pointer with 1:12 left.  With 33 seconds left, she was fouled by Gabby Tucker while shooting a three. She hit all three free throws as the Falcons took a commanding 45-27 lead into halftime.
  • Scott extended her own personal scoring run into the third quarter as she hit a three to open up the scoring followed by a free throw on the next possession to give Albertus a 49-29 lead with 8:08 left. Albertus continued to extend its lead in the third quarter, going up as much as 64-39 with 1:32 left after two free throws from White. Albertus took a 66-42 lead into the fourth quarter after a layup from Elizabeth Bruno (Providence, R.I.) after an offensive rebound from Jaelynn Mitchell (West Haven, Conn.).
  • In the fourth, it was Scott who once again opened the quarter with a three, followed by a jumper from Bruno to give the Falcons a 71-43 lead with 7:49 left. The Falcons did not let Manhattanville get any closer than 24 points the rest of the way and led by as much as 31 points after a layup from Scott made it a 79-48 game with 3:49 left.

NOTEWORTHY

The 37 points were the second most in a game for Scott. She scored 39 in a 106-104 win over the University of Saint Joseph on January 31, 2023. She now has 10 30-plus point games in her career.

The Falcons made 11 threes on the day, which was the most this season by the team.
