HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The two teams split the first 12 points of the game as White, Scott and Amanda Zdru (Stratford, Conn.) scored early on for Albertus. A three from USJ's Maya Slisz sparked a 16-7 run over the final 5:47 of the first quarter as the Blue Jays led 22-13 after the first 10 minutes. White finished with seven points in the quarter.
  • USJ scored the first four points of the second quarter before Scott drove to the lane with an aggressive layup, which she made while being fouled. She hit the free throw to make it a 27-16 game.
  • White then took over the second quarter, scoring 15 of the next 17 points for the Falcons, including three three-pointers to close the Albertus deficit to 36-33 with 3:40 left. She started her personal run with a three off a pass from Elizabeth Bruno (Providence, R.I.) followed by a mid-range jumper and a steal of her own that led to a layup. Later on she hit a corner three as a loose ball rolled towards her, then followed with a steal and pull-up three.
  • The Falcons tied the game on a three-from Bruno off a pass from Scott and then White fed Zadru for a layup on a fastbreak. Zdru was fouled on the layup, and made the free throw as Albertus led 42-39 with 42 seconds left. Albertus held that same lead at halftime.
  • The two teams brielfly tied at 44-44 early in the third quarter, but Murray-Leach scored five straight as Scott drove to the hole and found a cutting Murray-Leach for a bucket, followed by a three on the next possession to put Albertus up, 49-44.
  • Scott scored five straight later on in the quarter herself to put Albertus up 55-46 with 5:35 left, but Jordan Ouellette scored five straight to help lead a Blue Jays charge that tied the game at 57-57 with 49 seconds left. Scott followed with a three to put Albertus back up, but Sequoia Turcotte Briggs answered with a three of her own as the two teams were tied 60-60 heading to the fourth.
  • Turcotte Briggs briefly gave USJ 63-62 lead inside the first 45 seconds of the fourth quarter, but Scott gave the Falcons the lead back with a three.
  • With the game tied, 69-69 with 4:59 left, Scott hit a three in front of the Albertus bench and Murray-Leach scored four straight to give the Falcons a 76-69 lead. On the ensuing possession, Scott blocked a shot, then eventually stole the ball and hit a floater in the lane to give Albertus a big 78-69 lead with 3:02 left.
  • The Falcons did not allow a made field goal over the last six minutes as they held on for the big conference win.
