New Haven, Conn. – Albertus Magnus College women's tennis Head Coach Bob Migliorini (sixth season) has announced his team's schedule for the upcoming fall 2016 season. In total, the Falcons will take to the court 11 times, highlighted by six home contests and six Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches.
Albertus Magnus is coming off an historic season in 2015 after finishing the autumn with an 8-6 overall mark and qualifying for the GNAC Tournament. The eight wins were a new program record and the post-season berth in the conference tournament was the second in school history. Down the stretch, Albertus won their final two regular season matches. This year also marked just the second time in program history that the team finished with a winning percentage higher than .500. In fact, their .571 winning percentage was the best in school history. Albertus Magnus recorded two wins in GNAC play, which tied a program high achieved in 1997 and 1998.
"After a successful season last year in terms of having our first winning record, we are looking forward to another productive year this autumn," Migliorini said.
The Falcons begin the campaign with three of their first four tilts at home during September. In the first month of the regular season, Albertus Magnus hosts Bay Path (Sept. 2), Anna Maria (Sept. 17) and Vaughn (Sept. 24), while traveling to the Empire State to square off with York College (Sept. 11).
Albertus Magnus opens October with three straight road matches against Suffolk (Oct. 1), Molloy (Oct. 2) and Mount Ida (Oct. 5) before hosting reigning conference champion Simmons (Oct. 8). Down the stretch, AMC heads to the Ocean State to square off with Johnson & Wales in GNAC action (Oct. 10) prior to hosting Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Oct. 15) and New Rochelle (Oct. 16) to close out the regular season.
