Jersy City, N.J. – The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball lost on the road to New Jersey City University, 3-0, on Tuesday night in non-conference action inside the John. J. Moore Athletic and Fitness Center.

The Gothic Knights (3-1) captured their first-ever meeting with the Falcons (2-2) by a score of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-15.

The Albertus Magnus offensive attack was once again led by junior middle hitter Ana Gomez (New Haven, Conn.). Gomez rakced up six kills, while senior Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.) added four and freshman outside hitter Tatiana Hernandez (New Haven, Conn.) chipped in three. In the middle, junior Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) set the tone for the guests with 13 assists and three aces. Freshman outside hitter Ashley David (West Islip, N.Y.) also registered three aces from the service line for Albertus Magnus.

Defensively, Muriel had a team-high 11 digs for the visitors and freshman defensive specialist Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) added five.

After winning the first two games of the fall, the AMC has dropped back-to-back.

As a team, the Falcons recorded 16 kills, eight service aces, 13 assists and 25 digs.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Thursday, September 8, with a home non-conference clash versus Mitchell at 6:00 pm. The Falcons are looking to avenge a pair of setback last autumn against the Mariners. The tilt will also serve as the Albertus Magnus home opener.
