NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Ta'zhon Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) became the newest member of the 1,000-point club and Jayquan Kirkland (Stratford, Conn.) hit seven three-pointers as the Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team cruised to a 95-71 win over Rutgers University-Newark on Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, head coach Mitch Oliver now has 350 wins in his career at Albertus.
Kirkland finished with a career and game-high 31 points on 11-for-13 shooting, including 7-for-8 from three. Daniels scored 17 points, including 13 in the second half.
Daniels became the 21st member of the 1,000-point club at Albertus and currently has 1,008 points in his career.
Ray Ford, Jr. (Jersey City, N.J.) scored 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting with six rebounds and five assists. DJ Hamilton (Bronx, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 13 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 13-3 lead at the 15:20 mark behind threes from Ford, Jr. and Kirkland early on.
- Kirkland has scored in double digits in four of his last five games.
- Later in the first half, Kirkland went on a personal 9-0 run of his own as he hit a three on three consecutive possessions for the Falcons as they took a 24-6 lead with 12:06 left.
- Rutgers trimmed its deficit to 26-18 after two free throws by Osa Osagie, but a three from Kirkland kickstarted an 11-0 run by the Falcons as Ford, Jr. finished the run with a three of his own to make it a 37-18 game with 6:45 left in the first half.
- Kirkland hit one more three in the half and Tahijj Hunter (Mount Laurel, N.J.) scored four points in the final 3:51 before halftime as the Falcons took a 50-26 lead into the locker room. Kirkland had 22 points in the first half, while Ford, Jr. had 14.
- Kirkland continued his hot shooting in the second half, scoring seven of the first eight points for the Falcons as they took a 58-34 lead less than four minutes in.
- Needing five more points in the second half to hit the 1,000 point milestone, Daniels hit a jumper in the lane to make it 61-38 with 13:16 left. On the next possession, Daniels buried a three in transition to give him 1,000 points in his career.
- The Falcons would lead by as much as 36 points in the game after a layup from Hamilton at the 7:25 mark. Rutgers would not get any closer than 21 points the rest of the way.
