Men's Soccer Player Brayan Lucero Named GNAC Rookie of the Week for the Second Time

Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College freshman men's soccer player Brayan Lucero (East Haven, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this fall on Monday afternoon as announced by the league office.

Lucero becomes the first player to earn back-to-back Rookie of the Week honors since Ethan Melia of Norwich last September.

Brayan Lucero continued his strong early season play as the Falcons went 1-1 last week. He recorded five points and had a hand in all three of the team's goals, thanks to a two-goal, one-assist performance, in a 3-2 non-conference victory against Westfield State at home.

He picked up his team-leading third assist of the season on the game's first goal with a service into the box on a free kick. Later in the contest, he netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the second half for Albertus Magnus. He currently leads the GNAC in assists with three and is fifth in points with seven.

Albertus Magnus returns to action tonight, Monday, September 12, with a home non-conference contest against Hunter at 6:00 pm. The tilt marks the first-ever meeting between the Falcons and the Hawks.
