Danbury, CT - On Wednesday night, the Albertus Magnus College Men's Soccer Team opened the season with a 3-0 victory over the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team at the Westside Athletic Complex. In the seventh minute, the Falcons, 1-0, got on the scoreboard early when freshman forward Nick Hamasian (Hamden, CT) placed the ball in the right corner of the goal following a corner kick from freshman forward Taylor Sasloe (Norwalk, CT). The Falcons tallied another quick goal in the opening minutes of the second half to double the Colonials deficit, 2-0. Jamal Howard (West Haven, CT) collected a loose ball in the Western Colonials defensive third and went in to score an uncontested goal. His first goal of the season came 3:39 into the second stanza. Sasloe added an unassisted insurance goal in the 60th minute for the Falcons. Western CT State, now 0-1, outshot Albertus Magnus, 20-11 on the night but only six of the attempts were on goal. Gerald O'Connor (Hamden, CT) made six saves for Albertus Magnus while Keith Guillette (Seymour, CT) made one stop in his first collegiate contest. The Falcons travel to Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday for a 12:00 PM kick-off.
