The Albertus Magnus men's soccer team has been tagged as the No. 10 team in the Division III New England Regional Rankings as announced by the NSCAA on Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons, who are currently 13-2-1 on the year, are tied in the 10th spot with Roger Williams (R.I.).
Amherst (Mass.) is ranked first in the region with a record of 11-0-1 this season, while Wesleyan (Conn.) is No. 2 at 9-0-2.
As of Oct. 16, Albertus is ranked in the top-25 in the nation among DIII programs in scoring offense, total goals scored and winning percentage. The Falcons have scored a total of 44 goals in 2011, good for 16th in the nation, as Medaille holds the highest tally with 61 total goals. The Falcons' winning percentage of .867 is 13th best.
Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.) is one of the top representatives of the program this season as he leads the team with 16 goals and 36 points. His 2.4 points per game tally is 13th best in the country, while his total point tally of 36 is fifth-best. Howard is also ranked 12th in goals per game (1.07) and fourth in goals scored with 16.
Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) is currently the 2011 Division III leader in assists with 16 as he averages 1.23 per game.
The Falcons will finish the regular season with back-to-back home contests on Saturday, Oct. 22 and Monday, Oct. 24. Lasell will visit the Falcons on Saturday in a 3:15 p.m. GNAC match-up before Albertus hosts Wheelock on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
