Jamal Howard (West Haven, Conn.) scored in the 15th minute of play in today's contest to become the Albertus Magnus men's soccer all-time leader in points as he finished the day with 111 career points. With three goals in today's match, Howard surpassed Vic Crespo's single-season record of 18 goals. Howard now has 19 in 2011.
Howard, who broke the school's goals scored record on Monday, Oct. 10, surpassed Jay Hunter's points tally of 105 to become the new leader. Hunter finished his career in 1995 with 42 goals and 105 points, while Howard now has 49 goals and 111 points in his career. Howard tied Hunter's tally of 105 points on Oct. 15 as the senior scored two goals in the Falcons' 3-0 win over Emmanuel.
In today's contest against Lasell, Howard recorded his second-career hat trick as the Falcons finished the 2011 GNAC regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.
In 2011, Howard has registered a team-leading 19 goals along with 42 points, while his Falcons stand alone in the top of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference standings with a 14-2-1 overall record.
Among individual statistics this season, Howard ranks first in the conference in goals (19), points (42) and shots (100).
Howard will lead the Falcons in postseason play beginning next weekend as the GNAC will release a tournament bracket early next week.
