Albertus Magnus men's soccer freshman Richard Mitchell has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week as announced Monday night by the league office.

The Naugatuck, Conn. native registered two goals in two games for the Falcons as they went 2-0 during last week's competition.

Mitchell scored his second goal of the season in the Falcons' 4-0 win against Rivier (Sept. 27) and then connected on the game winner in the Falcons' 5-1 victory at Norwich (Oct. 1). The freshman recorded just two shots on the week, both of which found the back of the net. On the year, he has three goals in six attempts.

Mitchell will lead Albertus this week as they return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 5. He and the Falcons will travel to Mount Ida to take on the Mustangs in a 3:30 p.m. league match-up.
