The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team will head to Beverly, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 21 to take on the Endicott Gulls in the ECAC Tournament Semifinals. Albertus enters the postseason tournament as the No. 3 seed with an impressive 19-9 overall record. Saturday's match will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Endicott, the tournament's second seed, finished the regular season 12-0 in NECC play before falling in the NECC Championship match to Elms 3-1. On the year, Endicott is 16-14 and will face the Falcons for the first time in program history.
The Falcons are led this season by sophomore Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.), who was named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team for his efforts throughout the year for the Falcons. Charamut has a team-best 350 kills on the year and averages 3.80 kills per set. He has also recorded 42 assists, 24 service aces and a team-high 50 total blocks.
Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico) has dished out 886 assists on the year as he is averaging 9.53 per set. He has registered 45 service aces, 164 digs and 14 blocks for the Falcons as well.
The Falcons are currently in their most successful season ever as they have earned a program-best 19 wins, while head coach Omar Ramirez was tagged as the 2012 GNAC Coach of the Year. Albertus made its first-ever postseason tournament appearance last week as the fifth seed of the GNAC Tournament. The Falcons went on to earn their first postseason victory with a 3-1 win over Wentworth on the road and will now play in another postseason tournament on Saturday.
The winner of the early afternoon match on Saturday will face the victor of the Ramapo/Daniel Webster match at 3:00 p.m. at Endicott.
