The Albertus Magnus women’s volleyball team announced its 2011 schedule on Wednesday as the Falcons begin their season on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass.
Head coach Omar Ramirez enters his second year at the helm of the women’s volleyball program and will look to lead the Falcons in 2011 to a successful campaign in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
After the season opener at Gordon, the Falcons return home to host Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday, Sept. 6 in their home-opener in Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center on the Albertus Magnus campus.
Three straight matches on the road follow the home opener, including contests at Daniel Webster (Sept. 8), Wesleyan (Sept. 13) and Bay Path (Sept. 15). The first tri-match of the season is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17 in New Haven, Conn. as Mitchell and GNAC foe Norwich take the court against the Falcons. The match against Norwich marks the conference opener for 2011 as the Falcons will play against 12 GNAC opponents during the regular season.
After another home tri-match on Sept. 24 featuring the Falcons, Simmons and Anna Maria, Albertus will play on the road in 10 of its last 13 matches, including nine-straight during the final stretch of the regular season.
The Falcons’ final home match of the regular season will be played on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center against GNAC rival St. Joseph’s of Maine.
